Description
This is #2 in the series, featuring real sand (pumice), a real crab body (signature), Real crab claw, real shells, and real beach glass. When I painted this one, it was just because I wanted a painting for our new Florida home that looked “beach-y”, yet “different”. I had no idea at the time I was about to begin a new series of paintings that revolve entirely around a world that until then, has only existed in my mind.
Thingz to note: They are eating “chips” and salsa from bowls you can find in our cabinets. She is drinking a mixed drink made from the transmission fluid he is carrying on his back. This is a light jab at my wife who I joke about “shifting gears” on me all the time. Look into the bottom of her glass… now that’s a dirty drink. He on the other hand, is drinking Gulf Pride from the can as he gazes out across the vast, shimmering horizon. I chose Gulf Pride as his drink of choice simply because the new house is located on the Gulf side of Florida.
