#38 – Open Mind.
When I was a kid about to go off to college, my dad told me “If you keep an open mind long enough, people are gonna’ throw trash in it.” He also told me, “Two wrongs don’t make a right, but three rights make a left”. And I’d have to say, he was right on both counts. Now art imitates life. My dad passed in 2009, but it seems I still remember that “open mind” piece of advice over all the rest. Thanx for the idea dad.
Scattered throughout the painting are various ways our thoughts and motivations are influenced by the world around us. Be careful what your mind devours. Question everything, verify everything, sort it out, categorize it, and make up your own mind. Maybe Jim Morrison was onto something when he said: “Whoever controls the media controls the mind.”
