Description
In this painting, a little robot girl, made from one of the very first handheld vacuum cleaners, studies the very first Barbie doll carefully.
The advertising for the vacuum made the women of that era believe if they used that machine for cleaning, they could work faster and more efficiently with less effort. This would leave more time for preparing dinner, cleaning windows, dusting, and being sure when her man got home, he could relax fully and eat his dinner with no worries at all.
The advertising for the Barbie led young girls to think that THIS was the body all men were looking for. To have this type of body and luxurious clothing, shoes, and handbags was certainly a life worth pursuing and a sign of success and popularity.
However, the little robot girls’ crown is a bit rusted, her posture is a bit poor, and her silhouette is nothing like the hour glass you can see reflected in her eyes. What do you think she might be thinking as she studies the new girl she clutches in her hand?
She is #9 in the Alann J robot series
